Question
Hello my friend heres the story bought a 92 GSX600F for $200 and was not running, said carb problem. So my buddy has a bike repair shop and my bike is there and we cleaned the carbs. I removed float bowls 1 at a time and cleaned the MAIN and IDLE jet and sprayed carb cleaner threw it set the AIR screw 2.5 turns out from closed put new O rings on floats CLEANED things in there REAL NICE! Put carbs back together and put airbox on and she starts up but smells rich and FOULS my plugs MOSTLY cyl. 2 and 3 and seems that 1 and 4 are WORKING the most my mechanic friend says I need new carbs. I put the hoses back on the way I got it I dont think they are correct I am LOST. My motor is strong and has good compression 15k miles. PLEASE HELP any advice will be very appreciated, Thanks

Answer
Jerry,

sounds like the carbs are flooding
the cylinders or the air filter/box is restricted.
Were the float needle valves ok?
Was the float level about 13.7mm?
If the float valves are stuck, tapping on the
float bowls might help.
Is the choke adjusted okay?

Do you have a good spark on
cylinders 2 and 3?

Look in chapter 5 of above document for carb air cut-off valves and
air solenoid systems. These can cause problems
as well.
