Motorcycle Repair: 03 electraglide probs after rebuild, long beach ms, frustration levels

Question
Hello Mike,

Katrina took everything I owned including my '03 FLHTCUI in '05.  I turned my bike over to someone that was recommended by a friend.  My first mistake.

2 years and 3 months later it is being brought over to me today to ride at last.  Everything from powder coating of frame, rewiring, new wheels, to 103 SE and 6 speed upgrade was to have been done and tested.

1. Mech said 2 weeks ago I would have to replace oil pump since it was losing oil pressure when throttling up.  Ok I said and paid for a new one.  He now says I will have to "watch" oil pressure since it is still losing pressure on throttle up.

2. Six speed upgrade.  Won't reliably go into 6th.  He said months ago he would have to take out primary and install an "adjuster" to fix the problem.  Now he tells me the problem may go away and he wants to bring it to me the way it is.

I'm at wits end here.  I have totally rebuilt my house and am almost done rebuilding my Mom's house and still don't have a reliable bike.

What could be wrong with the oil pressure and should I insist on him installing the transmission "adjuster" before he brings it back?

Can you help me with some expert advice on the 2 issues above?  I know you can't help me with the mech (clown), he'll never get another bit of business from me or anyone I know.  I no longer trust him to tell me the truth.  He has scratched the paint and practically every piece of chrome, broken parts, and "lost" new replacement parts.  The bike sat in his moldy ratty shop for 2 years without so much as a fresh water wash.  Believe it or not he blames me for all the delays and problems.

Thanks for your time.  I see by your rating that you are probably well respected and busy but could you please respond as soon as possible?

Ps. I'm also on the Long Beach MS city council, we took 70 miles of beachfront devastation down here.  My stress and frustration levels are out of sight and my main stress reliever was riding my bike.  I don't just want it back, I need it.

Thanks

Answer
Sorry to hear about your bad experience.
If your oil pump was not working and a new one was added and doenst work, then your mech has done somthing wrong installing it. Sounds like both times! Since I havent seen what he did it would be hard for me to tell you what is wrong, but I wouldnt accept his explaination.
On the trans, I am not sure what he is talking about installing an adjuster. When adding a 6 speed you hav eto make sure the spacing is correct in the gears or you will have trouble shifting and that sounds like the problem.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
