Motorcycle Repair: carburator jet adjustment, honda xr 80, air fuel mixture

Question
i am trying to get my 2003 honda xr 80 r scooter up and runnin again. its been sitting up for almost 3 years. ive done everything but tear the carb. apart and redo it. on the carb. jets if i tighten them all the way down, how many turns do i need to turn them to get the factory settings back right. thanks for any help you can give.

Answer
Hi Justine,
The jets all need to be tightened down GNT (good -n- tight) The air fuel mixture scerw is the one on the outside of the carb that will need the adjustment set correctly. 1st turn it in untill it JUST SEATS, NOT tight but snug, then, turn it out to start at about 2-2.5 turns. This should at least make it run, then adjust it to run at its peak..

Hope this helps!
