Motorcycle Repair: still carbs and maybe throttles, intermediate jet, herschman

Question
ok mike Im still having that problem with running my bike up over 3000 rpm Ive changed the jetting as you instructed me to do and Im still running lean (plugs are still white) - I an 88" motor with a main jet of .074 should be enough fuel not to die over 3000 I would think - but I can go bigger if you think i should - but for now when I roll the throttle past half way she dies - as in dead in her tracks pull over and restart type of die - could this also be a throttle problem? thanks for the help - SGT. Aaron Herschman

Answer
Sounds like you have two problems. On the bike shutting down i would check the petcock to make sure it is supplying enough fuel. It might be plugged and is robbing the bike of fuel.
On the jetting, if you have the intermediate jet set, and are setting the main you can go bigger on the main jet since your plugs are pure white.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
