Motorcycle Repair: HD Tank dent, slide hammer, flat paint

Question
How do they repair a dent in a tank. I have a quarter size dent on my tank. My son dropped my new HD and it dropped left and the flasher dented the tank. Denim flat paint. No visible paint gone.

Hi David,

Whatever the repair is, it WILL ruin the paint in that spot. There are a few ways this is done. One os there is a hole drilled into the tank and a slide hammer inserted to pop the dent out. Another is scuffing the paint with samdpaper, and using a plastic filler (bondo) Another way is to heat the tank ( to red) and put a cold rag on it so that the metal conforms while pushing it from the backside and putting a cold rag on the red hot metal. The reccomeneded way is to go on  eBay and buy a new one...(or have the biy buy one for you..lol) sorry, not funny....
