Motorcycle Repair: exhaust sound, screw out, slide hammer

Question
QUESTION: 2005 ROADSTAR W/ V&H LONGSHOTS HS PIPES.
HOW CAN I GET A MORE SOUND ?
ONLY ON ACCELERATING I GET A MOTORCYCLE ROAR, WHEN I'M
CRUISING YOU CAN'T HEAR ME, AND WHEN I'M DOWN SHIFTING I GET A HARD TYPE SOUND.
I KNOW IT CAN'T SOUND LIKE A HARLEY BECAUSE OF PISTON TIMING,BUT A EXPLOSION IS A EXPLOSION. COULD IT BE BAFFLE
DESIGN ?

ANSWER: Hi John,

V & H has the option, if you look at the bottom rear of the pipe, there shouls be a bolt, somewhat hidden from sight. Remove the bolt, and remove the baffle (given there is one) and you'll need to use a slide hammer to get them out. THEN, and only then, I think you will get the sound you desire...

Hope this helps!

QUESTION: THANKS FOR THE QUICK REPLY, MARK.
WHAT ABOUT BACK PRESSURE ?

Answer
Worse comes to worse, you'll have to fatten up the pilot jet, maybe shim (.30)the needle, and turn the air/fuel mix screw out 2.5 turns.
Usually if youve already got the V&H with no issues running, this won't change it much..

Hope this helps!
