Motorcycle Repair: 2005 Suzuki Boulivard, suzuki c50, noisy engine

Question
My 2005 Suzuki C50 has a noisy engine. I only have 2500 miles on it, just bought it. When I start it up cold it has a small knock to it and when it warms up it will quit down some and still have a ticking noise like the valves or something. I hear the these bike make a lot of noise to begin with. Should I take it to the shop?

Answer
Al,

-Many of the newer V engines seem to be noisy.
It might just be the design of the valve train
or it may need valve lash adjustment.
If it were mine I would pull one of the little
inspection covers off the top of the engine
and see if plenty of oil is getting to the
top end of the engine. If it looks okay,
that eliminates that worry.
Any other "real" problem would result in the
noises getting louder over time.
Single wall exhaust pipes can also amplify
alot of normal engine/exhaust noises.
Often, there is nothing wrong other than
noisy engine designs. Keep an eye or ear on it
and maybe run it by someone with experience
on this model and see what he/she thinks. :)
