Motorcycle Repair: Radio, marine stereo, flht

Question
I have a 2003 FLHT and I want to add a stereo.  I don't want to spend the $1000 to get a Harley one.  Would a marine stereo (waterproof) or car stereo work assuming it would fit into the fairing?  Is the bike prewired for a stereo.

As far as I know the bike is not prewired. You can use any stero you would like, as long as it waterproof. Ther are some aftermarket companies out there that make radios for bikes, some not that pricy. I would do a search on the internet.
