Motorcycle Repair: 1981 Honda CB750K- brakes, 1981 honda cb750k, regulator rectifier

Question
I am having two problems:
I snapped my front brake lever in half, so I went to get a new one from my local shop, only to find that the replacement didn't match. The guys at the shop say that a previous owner must have put on a different master cylinder. Now I have no way of matching this lever so I fear I might have to replace the whole thing. Is there anything else I can do?

My battery won't hold a charge. Every morning it is drained when I try to start the bike. I noticed that the ground wire on a kill switch the last owner had put it was not connected securely, so I removed the entire thing just to see if that was my only problem. It wasn't, the battery still dies and it is a brand new battery. This being my first bike, and not knowing much about them, I don't even know where to start.

Answer
Alex,
maybe you can take the broken pieces in and have the
parts guy see if he can match it up with other
brake levers he has in stock. The inner piece
is the one that matters. If he won't look,
try another shop.

-you should check the charging system on the bike,
it should have about 13.5 volts at the battery when running fast. If no charge, then check your fuses and big connectors under the side cover.
You may have to eventually check the stator
and regulator/rectifier. Make sure battery cables are
clean and tight.

Finding a drain is done with an ammeter or test light
between the battery negative post and negative cable.
It should light up and go out when you disconnect
the fuse the drain is on. You may have to disconnect
devices or connectors until the drain is found.
