Motorcycle Repair: Clutch, clutch basket, clutch lever

QUESTION: Mike,

I have a sportster and everytime the bike heats up the clutch fails on me.  The clutch plates have been replaced since this problem and it still continues.  The clutch lever goes completely soft (flaps in the breeze)

Check your ramp in the primary. Also, check the nut holding the clutch basket and make sure you have it adjusted at the clutch. When you adjust it, take all the slack out of the cable and push the clutch cable wire inward towards the primary, to make sure the ramp is all the way back
