Motorcycle Repair: bad ground wire?, surface abrasion, factory security

Question
I have a 2002 Dyna Super Glide.  I recently installed the harley siren that goes with the factory security system.  Worked fine.  Two days later, started to get an occasional short...hit the ignition button and electronics short out.  All other electronics work, including the alarm and siren.  Looked over the grounds under seat and no corrosion where they attach to the frame.  Two wires had some minor surface abrasion...didn't see any exposed wire, but taped them anyway.  I'm assuming that the short is in the ignition system...but can't seem to find it.  Hate to have it towed into the shop, but not sure what to do next.  Thanks in advance for any advice or help.  I don't have a wiring diagram, but not sure it would help much.  I'm assuming that it was caused by the siren installation which puts some pressure on the wires collected under the seat.

Answer
If you have a short then youa re going about it the right way. What you are going to have to do is trace it back using a test light until you find the short. Also, check your wiring connections to make sure they are plugged in tight
Good luck and happy riding
