Motorcycle Repair: Carbeurator, carbeurator, needle valve

Question
Upon start up my exhaust smells rich and i have gas leaking out the carbeurator.  I assume my float pin is stuck wide open.  Can you give me any idea as to the correctness and my options?

Answer
Just clean the bowl out and check the needle and seat.  Turn it upside down and see if it stops air when you blow through it.  This is a common problem for bikes that have been sitting.  Junk in the gas tank and crumbling rubber in the fuel line keeps the needle valve from closing.  Or your float could be shot.  Check it and see if it floats.  Check the tip of the needle valve and the hole where it seats to look for damage.
