Motorcycle Repair: Suzuki DR 200, leak air, suzuki dr

Question
I was wondering if a carburetor boot that is cracked would cause the machine to have ruff to no idling, Not revving completely out, and backfiring a bit. The motor has just been rebuilt and the valves and internals all look good. It would be greatly appreciated if you could email me back with anything you know.

Thanks

Answer
Josh,
Yes, the intake boot will leak air into the engine
and cause lean fuel and or overheating.
Have a look at your spark plug color, it can tell
you if it is running lean or rich of fuel.
Black is rich, lean will be like white,
tan being ideal. Has the timing and valve clearance
been checked? The carb may need cleaning,
could be a plugged main jet.
