Motorcycle Repair: clutch squeal, clutch design, clutch pack

Question
I have a 2003 Indian Chief Roadmaster with 8500 miles on it.  For the last year or so, it has a pronounced clutch squeal when I back off the throttle and slow down in gear.  I adjusted the cable a couple times and it got better for a time, but has recently gotten worse.  I reajusted the cable then took the primary cover off to stop it from leaking.  While exposed, I  inspected the clutch, which seems unglazed, normal wear and a few miles left.  I ajusted the set screw in the center of the pressure plate at it seemed to be bottoming out before the springs were fully comprssing the discs, so I backed it off 1/4 turn and reassembled.  More squeal than ever.  The clutch doesn't slip and gears shift smoothly, just this irritating squeal which can be heard above my very load exhaust.  Is it time for a new clutch pack?
