Motorcycle Repair: throttle cable adjust - EVO FXSTC, cable holder, fxstc

Question
what is adjustment for the idle cable?  the throttle cable adjustment is pretty straightforward but manual not clear (to me at least) on idle cable.

Answer
Idle cable should be adjusted first.  Take up all the slack until the cable housing just seats against the spring in the cable holder on the side of the carb.  Then take up the slack on the throttle cable until there is just a little play left.  If the throttle doesn't snap shut when you let go, you need a little more freeplay in the IDLE cable.  There should be about 3/8" of threads showing on each of the adjusters when the locknuts are snug.
