Motorcycle Repair: 1983 Honda 450 Nighthawk, honda 450, competition accessories

Mark I am looking for replacement exhuast for this bike but have been unable to locate used muflers. Are there any other alternatives for exhuast pipes for the old bike? Also it has 7800 miles on it, it sat for some time and I have had the carbs soaked and cleaned but it still idles poorly and won't run well unless the choke is kept on, it also back fires at times, the baffles are loose in the pipes which may be part of the problem.

Hi Steve,

I'm not sure about replacement pipes for your 1983 Nighthawk. You may find something on Ebay.

Try contacting Competition Accessories (www.compacc.com) or other major retailers and ask the sales staff if they can check their catalogs or if they can refer you to other resources.

I suspect the carbs need more thoroughly cleaned.

I'd send you some tech information files if I had access to your email address.
