Motorcycle Repair: 2002 twin cam - 5 speed tranny shift problem, clutch cable, fxdwg

Question
My 2002 FXDWG has 51,000 miles on it. I've begun to have a problem shifting from 1st into 2nd gear if i'm running at high rpm's. If i'm running low rpm's it'll usually click right into 2nd gear - no problem.

I do not experience this problem when shifting up-or-down between any other gears, at any rpm level.

My thoughts: "bent fork" could it be something else?

Answer
I'm at a loss to point to something definite.  Is your clutch and clutch cable correctly adjusted with the right amount of freeplay?  Check the shifter pawl centering and adjust it with the centering screw in the top left side of the tranny case so that the there is the same amount of up and down freeplay in your shifter before you feel contact with the shifter drum.  If you don't know how to do this get a shop to check it.
