Motorcycle Repair: primary chain, left hand thread, header pipes

Question
Roy,I own a 1989fxstc with 48,000 miles, mild cam, s&s carb,3 step header pipes. I need to replace the primary chain. Is this a easy enough job for a shade tree wrench such as myself? what is your suggested way to do this? Thanks.

Answer
It's easy enough if you get a service manual.  Otherwise you won't know things like the clutch hub being a left-hand thread.  Also, you really need to have an air or electric impact gun to get the sprocket nut and clutch hub nut off.  The manual for your bike is HD part #99482-90.  Before you do anything I would read that section.
