Motorcycle Repair: 91/ evolution motor, oil seeps, oil tank

Question
Bike has been sitting over winter months.  Started it up ran for 2-3 min. then noticed oil coming out of the air breather. Shut it down then restarted oil still leaking out. .. Any thought

Answer
Your oil pump check valve is stuck or dirty.  Oil seeps by and goes into the crancase.  Then when you start the bike it blows out the breather cause there's too much to fit through the return line all at once.  Just pop the big screw off the top of the oil pump closest to the crankcase (the inside one).  Take out the spring and 1/4" ball bearing.  Flush it out with brake clean and swipe it with a big Q-tip.  Always run the bike for 5 minutes before changing the oil to get all oil back into the oil tank.  Otherwise you risk overfilling it.  A simply overfilled oil tank will also cause oil to blow out the breather.
