Motorcycle Repair: Throttle Cable, heritage springer, throttle sleeve

Question
Wanna run a single throttle cable instead of the dual cable setup on a '98 Heritage Springer with stock handlebar switches & a S&S Super E Carb. I eliminated the idle/push/closing side cable & just have the throttle cable hooked up. I've done this before on early style Harleys with no problem but on the late model big twins it seems that the return on the throttle is sloppy, sorta like it wants to keep turnin instead of stoppin shut. Matter o' fact the if I apply a little pressure on the throttle it will continue to turn (in the deceleration position). Does anyone have any experience with this. I'm kinda stymied. "Bout the only thing I can think of is replacin the plastic dual throttle sleeve with a single throttle sleeve, maybe there's a stop or block on the single sleeve to close it down, where the dual one relies on the idle/push cable to close the throttle.

Thanx. This site has been a tremendous help. Kudos...

Answer
You are correct.  The "idle" cable is what stops the throttle sleeve upon its return to the idle position.  Just don't back off so hard on the grip.  Also, make sure you didn't drop out the throttle adjuster shoe inside the bottom half of the switch housing before you put it back together.
