Motorcycle Repair: restraining arm on 2005 xl1200c rear brake, mounting bolt, tailpipes

Question
I laid my bike over and broke off the top bolt holding the right footpeg and rear brake pedal, I need to remove the tailpipes to get to this and am not sure how to do this

remove the heat shield from the pipe. Look behind the pipe and you will see the back mounting bolt. Remove it and at the top of the pipe you will see two nuts that hold the pipe to the head. remove them and you have it off. Install in reverse.
