Motorcycle Repair: battery charger, trickle charger, voltage drop

Bought a new battery this yr.--I live in southern IN.--will bring the batt indoors for the winter -- I have looked at chargers---float vs trickle?--I don't understand--which would I need--and how do they differ? Thanks for any info

A trickle charger charges the battery all the time. A float charger lets the battery voltage drop and then it turns on. Once the battery is fully charged it shuts off and then tunr back on when the battery drops. You need a flaot charger. If you leave a trickle charger on all the time you will ruin the battery
