Mazda: sticking excelerator pedal, mazda service, 2004 mazda3

Question
My excelerator on my 2004 Mazda3 with 116,000klms is sticking and I was advised by the Mazda service that the coarseness caused through a worn throttle body...this will cost $800.00AU to fix...are they having me on or what!!!!
Also for anyone with the ENGINE light and AT light coming  on..it needed a new pulse generator...its very hard being female....when it comes to cars..
Thank you

Answer
Not it my particular area of expertise however, a worn throttle body is not common with your miles.  116,000k or 72,000 miles is considered young for a Mazda.

Assuming it is a cable pull system, I would physically check the cable pull even disconnect it at the throttle body isolating each part and determining if the throttle sticks or if the cable sticks or if the pedal assembly sticks.  I personally have never seen this happen rather they tend to wear loose not tight.

Check inside the throttle and clean out any/all carbon or varnish build up which can lead to plate stickiness.
