Motorcycle Repair: 1985 Honda atc 250sx, honda atc, mrcycles

I am trying to figure out my 3 wheeler. Before it sat up, the new battery I had,  would not stay charged. I don't know if it was because it was one of them walmart 25$ batteries so I ordered a good new one (today online). But if it is not that then what could it be and how would I figure out what is running the battery down. I have studied that wiring harness diagram and generator diagram on mrcycles but was just wandering if you had some clue? Shane

take side plate off the engine where stator is spray brake cleaner in ther also if its got point they may be sticking . also chk on and off switch while switch is of turn bike over see if you have fire if you do def. a short.im here at my cycle shop 2day if you need more help i will research 4 u ok.
