Motorcycle Repair: fuel cap, yamaha radian, fuel cap

Question
the fuel cap on my 1986 yamaha radian is stuck and wont open with the key. any ideas of how to get off or remove the entire assembly without damage to tank?

douglas before you start banging on it go to wal-mart get a tube of graphite and squeeze it into the key hold then work the key real slow ok, if you need more help contact me
