Motorcycle Repair: slipping clutch 2003 kawasaki 1600 classic, clutch master cylinder, hydraulic clutch

Question
is there an ajustment for the hydraulic clutch on this bike of my son in laws? when you let the clutch out you can stand over the bike and hold it from moving

Answer
Hi Jack,

Basically, the clutch hydraulic system is bled like a brake system.

Check master cylinder and slave cylinder for evidence of leaks and for proper operation.

Check Banjo bolts (hydraulic hose fasteners) at hose ends for clean, tightly fastened connections.

Check clutch master cylinder fluid reservoir for clean and proper amount of fluid.

Measure clutch plates for wear. Check plates for evidence of discoloration.

Measure all clutch springs. Replace springs and plates if any defects, discoloration, or out of service limit specs are present.

It's important to replace all springs, metal plates, and fiber plates as a set.
