Question -
I have a 73 (righthand shift) ironhead sportster,MY FIRST.IT sounded good when i heard it run,But when i got it home and rode it, I learned it would not achieve more then 1/4 throttle and then the front cyl. quits? Both feuel and spark are present during failure. At low rpms power is exelent and both cyls.FIRE.Could it be in VALVES?and can they be adjusted? Bike has also sat for 4-5 months.Any help would be greatley appreciated,Costalboy06.

Answer -
Are you running points or electronic ignition?
Mike

Answer
I was asking that to make sure you didnt have a single fire ignition or duel fire points.
i would first check the pushrods to make sure they are adjusted right. When the bike is cold and the lifter is all the way at the bottom of the stroke they should be free to turn in your fingers. If they are to tight then you will have the above problem
If they are ok, then do a test on the coil to make sure its ok
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
