Motorcycle Repair: 81 yamaha 650 maxim, coil pack, yamaha 650

Question
Was riding and the bike just died. thought it was out of gas but found that it is not firing. could it be the coil pack? how should I trouble shoot? thanks

It's not normal 4 these older coils 2 go, but when they do it's usually easy to tell.  Here's how, There will be a waxy type substance coming out of the coils.  If there's not then I would make sure the coils r getting the 12 volts of constant current they need.  If so, go 2 your points.
