Motorcycle Repair: xj 700, o rings, carbs

Question
I noticed that you asked a question about a maxim xj700...I too have that same problem...It runs rough at an idle...and all the way up to about 2500 rpm...then seems like it clears out and runs fine at high rpm...I grew up building blown race motors and what not for cars...but when comes to bikes...I'm done.

Answer
I'm really not familiar with rebuilding these carbs... but you need to first ensure the carb is clear of any debris, clean all jets etc..  you're obviously mechanically inclined..just pull it off, disassemble and clean all jets with compressed air, check for all o-rings  and screens on top of jets, replace if necessary.  Then retry.. if it's still happening let me know, then you will need to rejet.

Good Luck
