Motorcycle Repair: timing a 79 fxe that wont start, timing hole, fxe

yes , spark on both, yes it is getting gas.it does pop after cranking it (after giving her gas). sounded like timing to me-. or if i have a short in my wiring would that cause it not to fire?-----------------------

i have a 79 fxe with twin teck ingnition system. ran great then started to die out and run one one jug. won;t start, have messed with the timing and need to know how to check itand set it correctly. i have changed the ignition system and coil. what nexted?

Are you getting spark at both cylinders?

You will need a timing light and a clear plug for the timing hole in the case. Start the bike and looking in the timing hole with the timing light, look for the timing line on the flywheel. If you dont see it then have another person slowly turn the timing plate until you see it and you have it set
