Motorcycle Repair: Yamaha Radian, intake tubes, surface rust

Question
Hi Collin. I have a 1986 Radian that runs and looks great. I noticed that there is a white straw in the gas tank lying at the bottom of the tank (I assume it is one of the gas intake tubes). I also noticed that there was some surface rust starting on the inside bottom of the tank. How can I clean this and where is the gas filter on my bike?
Also, do you know how many miles/km I should be getting per gallon/litre?

Thank you very much

Answer
to clean the rust you can use a sand/water mix that actually will sand out the entire inside of the tank. after that u will want to coat the inside with a product used for your issue, cant think of the name but it can b found at: www.jpcycles.com.

The gas filter will b attached to the petcock.

Mileage is impossible to get accurate by answering like this, but I can come close if I know the # of cyl., year of bike, carbs/fuel injection, and size of engine.
