Motorcycle Repair: Ignition switch removal, needle nose pliers, flhs

Question
I have been experiencing electrical problems with my 92 FLHS for some time now. I have changed the stator, regulator and installed a new battery over the last few months. A few days ago I was riding along and all was well when... She died, instantly. I got her to the side of the road where I checked and found that I had no lights, no nothing. Upon getting the bike back home I started going through and searching for any obvious problems: loose grounds, bad connections, bad insulation, etc... nothing.
I started playing with the ignition switch and found that I could get very weak lights on occasion. At other times, no lights at all. In the Accessory position they would come on strong. Durring this process I have all but killed the battery so I will change it thisevening.
Am I wrong in suspecting the ignition switch? And what is the correct proceedure for removing it for replacement?

Thanks,
David

Answer
You probably have it right if yuo have power when you play with it.
To remove it, you have to remove the tanper shield first. The is a pin you have to pull on underneith with a needle nose pliers. It will then slide out. Looking under it you will see the switch housing body and remove the nuts.
Good luck and happy riding
