Motorcycle Repair: 1999 ULTRA CLASSIC TAPPING NOISE, pushrods, lifters

I HAVE NOTICED A SLIGHT TAPPING SOUND THAT SOUNDS LIKE A VALVE TAP OR LIFTER TAP. IS THERE ANY KNOWN HISTORY OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR
ULTRA'S AND IF SO WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST TO FIX THE TAP. MY BUDDY ALSO HAS A 2000 ULTRA BUT HAS NOT HAD THIS PROBLEM. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER.

Your tapping sound is coming from the lifters. It is caused by the valve lash in the pushrods. It doesnt hurt anything and most EVOs do it. The only thing you can do to stop it is install some lifters like Jims which are quiter
