Motorcycle Repair: 1981 yamaha, seca 750, yamaha seca 750, plastic bolt

Question
Sorry, I missed writing a word that was im[portant in my question. so I will re-ask the question.

In the battery compartment there is what looks like a plastic BOLT with a wire attached to it at the head of the BOLT  ~~~|====-  and a small piece of metal that sticks out the other end. Where does this go and what does it do? If you need more info on this, I can take a pic and send it. I hope you can understand what I am asking, my E-mail is semby01@yahoo.com if you need the pic of it. I would take a digital pic if needed.

Hi Steve.

It sounds like what you are looking at is the main fuse.  It would be a black plastic or rubber box with wires going to and from it.  Is that an accurate description of what you are asking about?

Good luck and ride safe.

Answer
Hi Steve.

Take a look at your initial question.  It didn't say that it was a bolt, just a plastic.

Now a bolt with a wire going to it, that's something different.  What is the bolt inserted into?  Perhaps the air box or is it something else?  Any time that you have something like that it is some kind of sender unit.  Depending on what it is going into, depends on what the sender unit is for.

Let me know.
Good luck and ride safe.
