Motorcycle Repair: No instrumentation, electrical diagnosis, suzuki gsx r

Question
'02 Suzuki GSX-R. First started with intermitent loss of headlight. Replaced all fuses and battery. Then headlight problem got worse and now I have no headlight and no instrumentation at all. Any idea what to look for now?

Thanks, Mark!

Answer
Hi Brian,

I suspect a loose electorical connection.

It's also possible that conductor wiring insulation is defective in the form of chaffing, cracking, or rodent chewing, and is intermittently shorting with chassis ground or orther conductors.

And, the CDI (control module) may be defective.

Get a copy of the service manual. Perform electrical diagnosis to verify the source of the problem. Repair acordingly.
