Motorcycle Repair: 1990 Kawaski KDX200 clutch, clutch mechanism, friction plates

Question
I have 1990 Kawasaki KDX200.  I bought the bike in "needs work" condition.  After replacing many parts the bike runs good but the clutch will not fully disengage.  The clutch worked ok before, now no adjustment helps.  I followed the repair manual and tried the prescribed proceduers and no luck. PLEASE HELP
                        Thanks

Answer
Hi Ed.

If you have had the clutch mechanism (cable side where it attaches to the clutch) apart, then you could have that little lever in the wrong position, too far in.  There is also the possibility that the clutch may need rebuilding as well (if you haven't already done that).

If you haven't touched the clutch, as far as rebuild, then you may need new springs and or friction plates.  In which case, you should just get a whole rebuild kit and be done with any future problems.

Good luck and ride safe.
