Hi Warren,

Q:  "... I have a 2001 suzuki katana 750with less than 4,000 miles. I havent been riding that much because of my job..I started riding again..."

Questions for you:

How long has the Katana been stored or not started?

Any gas stabilizers in use?

Any history of repairs or maintenance?

Any after market parts installed?

Do you have email? I return tech information files by email. There was no email addy with your question as requested.

A:  Other than engine seizure, no. You may get an oil indicator light to illuminate on the gauges if engine is overheating. Check oil cooler for obstructions. Clean accordingly.

Answer
Warren,

Could be a vacuum problem, especially if carb vent hoses are improperly routed.

The problem may be a fuel delivery problem; fuel service levels not set to specs.

The problem may be ignition related; defective CDI/ECM or other ignition part.

A tech needs to perform a few checks to accurately diagnose the problem.
