Motorcycle Repair: coolant tank, honda cbr 600, coolant tank

Question
Hey Falcon,

Just bought a used 1987 Honda CBR 600, and I noticed that there were two hoses sticking out of the bottom of the bike, I noticed that the coolant tank was empty and I decided to put coolant in it...

Then quickly it leaked out of the two hoses at the bottom of the bike,

How can I reconnect the hoses if possible?

Please Help!

Thanks

Answer
Hi Ollie.

I am certain that the hoses can be rerouted and reconnected properly.  Unfortunately, I am unfamiliar with the hose routing on the CBR coolant overflow tank.  That tank is only supposed to be partially filled, as it is an overflow tank.  I suspect that one of those hoses may connect to the radiator.  double-check to see if the overflow hose from the radiator cap goes all the way to the overflow tank.  If not, then one of those hoses is likely the one that you need to connect to that.

I recommend that you get the repair manual for the exact routing for those hoses as well as all of the specs that you will need for all future maintainence.

I am sorry that I cannot help you further.

Good luck and ride safe.
