Having problem with my 92 sentra se-r with 140000 , it was running fine this morning, and i was diving on highway, engine looses power suddenly. also when engine idle i can tell the sound coming from the tail pipe are different than normal. feels like Spark plugs misfire.  so i replaced all 4 spark plugs. also replace spark plugs wires, fuel and air filter, and i still having the same problem , no error code on computer. do you think is the EGR Valve problem, or what should i looking for. thnak you

Chris,

Check the distributor for oil on the optical pickup.  With the year and the miles the shaft seal is probably gone and oil is coating the optics.  My bet would be to replace the distributor.

Chris,

Under the rotor there is a cover with two phillips screws.  Also, the rotor post, the thing that the rotor goes on has a phillips screw too.  Take that one off before the cover screws and then the cover will come off and you will see the potics and shutter wheel disc inside.  I bet there is oil in there and that is what is causing the problem.

Answer
Chris,

Ok, it is not the distributor.  Now, look at the fuel pump to see if you have pressure when the car does its thing.  Basically get a fuel pressure gauge and see if the pressure drops off.  You could have a defective pump or relay and it could be as simple as a filter needing to be replaced or a regulator that is going out.
