Motorcycle Repair: 1982 Honda CM250 Custom Wire Harness Path, honda cm250, nylon ties

Question
Good morning,

First off I would like to thank you for a VERY quick response on my last question.  You answer helped out a lot.

Ok, I have a 1982 Honda CM250 Custom.  I bought the bike as a “fixer upper” and soon found that the wiring harness was very loosely, almost Micky Mouse like, attached.  I found only one of the “straps” that secure the wire harness to the frame.  Seeing as I am trying to restore this bike to almost new condition, I would like to find out the path on the frame where the wiring harness is suppose to take.  I have a Clymer's which shows the wiring diagram, which is very useful, but it doesn't show how the harness is suppose to lay on the frame.

Thank you!

Duane...

Answer
Hi Duane,

Thanks for the compliments.

That's an easy question, but hard to answer.

Check out the following link and view Honda's Common Service Manual.

The wiring harness has a memory-like of how it was routed. It should lay in place as if form fitted. Add nylon ties to secure the wiring harness accordingly.
