Motorcycle Repair: vulcan 750 headlight, vulcan 750, lighting device

Question
Mr. Mark,my 01 vulcan(750) headlight has quit working.fuse is good,no juice to the headlight, light is good,no electricty at high/low switch.any help would be very helpful.evrything else works fine.also  what is a "reverse lighting device"?

Answer
Hi John,

I suspect the ignition switch or starter button is the source of the headlight problem. Both of these parts have a role on the operation of the light.

When the ignition switch is turned on and the starter button is depressed, power to the headlight is cut momentarily to provide maximum voltage/current for starting the engine.

Get a copy of the service manual to learn how to test these parts. Testing is easy. You'll need a multimeter. You can get a decent multimeter at Sears for under $30, even less on sale.

Q:  "..also what is a "reverse lighting device"?

A:  LED's (Light Emitting Diodes) LED's can be assembled in a variety of designs for as many purposes.

Respectfully,
