Motorcycle Repair: 1971 sportster clutch adjustment, clutch adjustment, clutch lever

Question
I have not been able to get my clutch to relese on my 71 sportster. I have changed the cam and ball assy ,the primary cover , i have had the cable adjusted from one end to the other along with the clutch adjustment screw . I am at a loss as to what to do next to alleviate this problem. Thank You for any light you can shed on this problem.

Answer
Try this. I have seen this happen before where the release arm is not rearward when you try to adjust it.
Adjust the cable so it is as short as it goes and screw the adjuster screw outward so it is not touching anything. Now push the cable inward so the release arm is all the way back or towards the rear of the bike. Now adjust he clutch screw inward just until it touches. Now adjust the cable until you have around 1/8 inch play in the clutch lever.
If this doesnt work let me know.
