Motorcycle Repair: drive chain keeps coming off, mc repair, sproket

Question
I have a 1980 honda CB250 (i think) that I bought for $500 a couple of years agao. Now, the chain keeps coming off the rear sproket and is very loose. I just turn the rear wheel and place the chain back on and ride straight and slow. How do I repair it. Can I repair it(I am a lower medium level mechanic)? Will the cost outwiegh the value of the bike. It's an old bike and kinda beat up(i have duck taped the head light, etc.) but I like it and I am willing to keep it if it's worth it.

Thanks for your assistance

Answer
Hi Robert,

The chain may need adjusted or replaced.

If replacement is necessary, replace both sprockets and the chain as a set. Otherwise, the old parts will quickly ruin the new parts.

To learn about thses procedures, get a copy of the service manual. The manual has illustrated procedures and for all maintenance and repairs on your CB250.
