Motorcycle Repair: KAWASAKI COOLANT GAUGE, kawasaki vulcan 750, temp gauge

Question
hi bill.i have a 1997 kawasaki vulcan 750 with a pretty generic problem. the temp gauge does not work. any suggestions thanks a lot doucas

Answer
Doucas, a temp gauge on a bike is just like those on a car...
Temperature sender/sensor screwed into the thermostat housing or radiator... and the gauge that is powered from the electrical system.

BATTERY-IGNITION SWITCH-INSTRUMENTS-TEMP GAUGE-SENDER-GROUND

The sender is a variable ground to the gauge. A way to test the gauge is to find the sender, remove the wire, ground the wire with the key on, very briefly, and see if the gauge moves. If so, then the sender is bad. If not, the the gauge has a problem or the power to it is being interrupted.
