Motorcycle Repair: 2004 1200R baffles, drag pipes, piece of advice

Question
I have been trying to remove the baffles from my 2004 Sportster 1200R. The rear one slid right out but the front one will not budge. Is there something holding it in there? I already jetted the carbs, 48 pilot, 190 main.

Answer
They are spot welded sometimes or it is just stuck from carbon.
Just a piece of advice, removing the baffles will cause you to lose power in midrange. You are creating to much free flow in the exhaust. You would be better off to purchace more freeflowing exhaust or mufflers. What you are doing in making drag pipes which work quit well at high RPMs, but not in the range of normal riding.
Good luck and happy riding
