Motorcycle Repair: lifters, tappets, lifters

I just bought a 84 flh with a 80 ci shovel motor, It has been recently rebuilt and why I dont know they installed solid lifters,(tap, tap, tap,) I checked the adjustment on them and it was good,is it possible to change to hydrolic lifters without installing a new cam. If I can will I need to replace the tappets also?

Alot depends on which cam you have. Some need to have solid lifters in so they dont float. I can only tell you if I know what cam you have. You can install hydrolics without changing tappets, if you have the right cam.
If you can, let me know what cam you have.
