Motorcycle Repair: 1983 honda goldwing, blown head gasket, 1983 honda goldwing

Question
Bill,                                                  I havent had this bike long. It runs too rich and there seems to be oil in the antifreeze. Its been to the shop, rebuilt carbs, flush ratiator, etch tank-do to rust. For what Ive spent I thought I'd have a great olbike.  It runs great full throtle from a dead stop, spits out toward high RPMs- running around 3000RPMs and turn your wrist a bit of spit and sputter runs a bit rich. I expect a smooth responce but; PUT-PUT-PUT! CRACKED HEAD? Or blown gasket for the oil\water problem? RUNS RICH? SLUGISH STARTER WHEN WARM? The bike looks good for an 83. Just wish it could be right. I would apperciate your insite.                           Thanks,                            Griff

Answer
Griff, have someone read the spark plugs and do a compression check to see if you have a blown head gasket.
Go from there.

Be sure that the spark advancer isn't stuck/sticking and that the ignition timing is correct and all carbs are carbureting and synchronized. Hopeuflly, the timing belts are installed correctly.

The starter clutch or motor may be worn/damaged or it may be trying to compress something more than gas/air when it is starting up.
