Answer
Mark, US bikes have ALWAYS ON headlight systems, there is no option for turning them ON and OFF. I realize that non-US versions do not all have this feature. On the US bikes, if you switch to HIGH BEAM the running lamps will go OUT and when you go back to LOW BEAM, the running lights come back on. The headlight will go OFF when the starter button is pushed in and then come back ON when the button is released. You said it was "imported" but not from where, so I am giving you extra info that may not be applicable to your bike.

The indicators are separate from the brake light system, however they can influence each other when a ground wire or connection is lost, especially at the back of the bike.
There is a bundle of wires coming from the tail light and rear indicators that need to be checked carefully for clean and tight contacts. Also, remove the tail light lens and check the bulb socket and the ground strip that grounds the light socket to the rest of the light assembly and the ground wire that ground the light assy to the rear fender or frame.

When the tail light or indicator is not grounded properly, there is a feedback signal that goes back through the other wires, causing dimming of the various lights and can interfere with the indicator function, as well. Check each circuit individually...  Check all signal bulbs for correct wattage and type, plus the sockets for cleanliness and all the grounding of the signal assemblies. When you are satisfied that the indicators are all functioning properly, check the tail light/brake as described above.
Unless your bike has some other kind of parking lamp or accy light position, that should take care of the problem.

If you still have issues, pull the headlight and check wiring in the case, plus all the other wire harness connections under the fuel tank and elsewhere.
