i have a 2005 fatboy anniversary edition...while riding i noticed that my alarm light (the key shaped light) was on steady.  when i got home, i installed docking hard ware, and a turn signal relocation kit.  after putting everything back together, the left side blinkers were not working.  the front blinker lights up, but wont flash, the rear does nothing.  i tested my wiring for the left rear turn signal on the right side wiring harness, and it worked fine. while checking the ownwers manual, i read that the steady alarm light indicates a current problem, so i am not even sure if the turn signals were working when i started the relocation kit. it appears that the turn signal switch is working because i can put the lights in hazard flash, but the left side doesnt flash.. back or front

Let me ask, do you have current at the bulb socket when you press the turn signal?
Mike

no current when its plugged into the left side, but like i said, the signal worked when i plugged it in to the right side.  its not the bulb it thats what you are getting at.

What you are going to have to do it start tracing the wire back from the socket to the sourse until you locate the short. If you light is still on for the alarm, then you might have a short in it and will have to be checked at the dealership.
Good luck and happy riding

the problem got worse, now the bike wont run

i have a 2005 fatboy anniversary edition...while riding i noticed that my alarm light (the key shaped light) was on steady. when i got home, i installed docking hard ware, and a turn signal relocation kit. after putting everything back together, the left side blinkers were not working. the front blinker lights up, but wont flash, the rear does nothing. i tested my wiring for the left rear turn signal on the right side wiring harness, and it worked fine. while checking the ownwers manual, i read that the steady alarm light indicates a current problem, so i am not even sure if the turn signals were working when i started the relocation kit. it appears that the turn signal switch is working because i can put the lights in hazard flash, but the left side doesnt flash.. back or front. after checking the ground wires for a short, i found loose ground wires bolted to the chasis, and tightened them.  when i did that, all four turn signals came on and then the fuse labled battery blew. the turn signal would no longer blink, or shut off[ after figuring out which wire was causing the fuse to blow, i found that it is a commen ground from the speedo and the turn signal alarm system module.  my question is if the module is bad, could that be causing the malfunction and short?  i called the dealer and its at least two weeks before they can get me in, so im just trying to fix it if it ends up being something simple... thanks for any and all help

Pull a spark plug and touching the cylinder with it, turn the bike over. Does the plug spark? If not, go to the coil with a test light. With the key on one side of the coil should be hot. Is it?
Mike

i cant do that.  i cant turn the engine over at all.  when the battery fuse blows, it kills the whole starting system, the engine light come on for a sec and the fuse blows. whatever this ground wire is allatched to also kills the odometer.  however i was able to get it started using jumper cables, and momentarily touching the bad wire to the chasis ground. the bike runs for about 30 seconds and dies when the fuse blows.  i also disconnected the turn signal/alarm module and put jumper cable on the bike.  it wouldnt turn over, but the fuse did not blow.  the battery is dead because i cant get the turn signals to shut off.

Answer
You have a major short somewhere. What you need to do is start tracing wires out and locate it.
One thing, its not good to jump the battery with a car or truck battery. To many anps. You might blow the battery up. Charge the battery and work off it.
