Motorcycle Repair: 82 Kawasaki 305, stator windings, rotor stator

I just got this bike and it runs ok after you charge the battery, but the battery doesn't ever get recharge its self(it will just drain the battery when your riding). We just put a new battery in it. How can we check to see whats causing this? I appreciate any help you can give me.

Jason, these bikes have a magnetized rotor, stator windings and a regulator/rectifier to control the voltage.
All of the above items retail about $275+ each, so I would suggest checking each one carefully before buying unnecessary parts.

Be sure that the brake light isn't stuck ON all the time and that all lights are working properly. I would inspect all the electrical connections for damage or corrosion. Also check ALL ground connections on the bike.
